June 18, 2020 —It’s more good news for the PGA Tour this week.  That’s because out of the 369 COVID-19 tests that have been administered on-site this week at the RBC Heritage, the PGA Tour reports there are no positive results.

The PGA Tour also administered 98 tests following the third round of the Charles Schwab Challenge for players and caddies who made the trek to the tournament on the circuit’s charter flight.

Additionally, for the second consecutive week, there was not such good news for the Korn Ferry Tour, which reported, unfortunately, there were positive test results.  Of the 408 on-site tests that were administered at the event in St. Augustine, Fla., two positives came back from caddies.  This is lower that the report for last week, where four positive tests came back, three caddies and a player, at TPC Sawgrass.

COVID-19 upended daily life in the United States as SARS-CoV-2, the virus spreading the disease, swept across the country. The U.S. declared a national emergency in mid-March, and Americans adjusted to strict guidelines, canceled activities and closures, and mandates to stay home. Now different parts of the country are gradually reopening as the conversation continues about the best ways to do that safely and avoid new surges of infections, according to yalemedicine.org

Scientists and public health officials are working as quickly as possible to find answers to key questions about how the disease is transmitted and why some cases are more severe than others, while they investigate treatments and a potential vaccine.

The USGA has been committed to working collaboratively with organizations across the industry to lead the responsible return and continued operation of golf during the COVID-19 pandemic.  The organization has created a resource page to provide useful information for everyone within the golf community on how to play and manage the game safely.
