AmariAvery2The Riverside, Ca resident first got involved in golf by her father, Andre Avery. And, as the middle child she shares the love of the game with her two brothers and two sisters.

“My sister Alona, she’s really getting really good,” says the smart second-grader, who has developed a strong practice routine and manages to play 8 or 9 times during the month. She and her little sister, Alona, can usually be found competing against one another at their home course, Goose Creek Mira Loma (CA).

Amari is both well-known and well-liked in her local golf community and she is a member of Western States Golf Association/Honors Club. “Coach Schartz is terrific and his expert instruction has benefited me greatly. Otherwise, my dad would have had me all messed up without it,” she claims.

Amari believes that her mental approach to the game is the biggest challenge that she has yet to overcome, but states that she and her father are now working hard together to strengthen her focus during rounds.

AmariAvery4When not on the course, Amari enjoys studying her two favorite subjects: math and English. She loves to swim, jump rope, do math problems and just hang out with her family.

”I have certain records I’m trying to achieve in the Junior rankings and someday I want to turn pro. I believe that I’m a pretty cool person and I love to compete on the golf course.”
