


Debert Cook, CMP Publisher of the African American Golfer’s Digest and President of Event Planners Plus! located in New York City.
Ms. Cook launched the African American Golfer’s Digest as a nationally distributed publication in March 2003 focusing on news, tips and activities in the ‘soulful’ world of golf. The only print publication of its kind in the U.S., the magazine is subscription based with controlled circulation of over 80,000 readers each quarter and added distribution to over 250 African American-focused golf events around the country. As the nation’s leading publication for avid golfers, the magazine has been profiled on The Golf Channel, ESPN, Golf For Women, Meetings & Conventions Magazine, Black Enterprise, Ebony, The Network Journal, Crain’s New York business, The New York Amsterdam News and many others.
As President of Event Planners Plus! which she founded in 1998, Ms. Cook handles operations at the company which specializes in corporate and small business meeting management services. She holds a CMP certification in meeting planning from the Convention Industry Council and her firms clients have included The National African-American Insurance Assoc., Medgar Evers College, State of the Black World Conference, Black Expo New York, Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Foundation, Black Barbershop Health Outreach Program, Office of the New York State Comptroller, African American Burial Ground, Empire State Medical Association and WBLS radio to name a few.

Ms. Cook is a native of West Virginia and grew up in Ohio prior to relocation to New York in 1988. She holds various degrees including a Master of Arts degree in Liberal Studies/History from the City University of New York and has served as an adjunct professor teaching courses in African American music & art history at the South Bronx campus of The College of New Rochelle in Bronx, New York.
Prior to opening her own firm, Ms. Cook held positions in media with numerous
companies including BusinessWeek Magazine
and the Avrette, Free & Ginsberg advertising agency.
She has professional memberships with numerous organizations including the NY/NJ Minority Purchasing Council and Black Americans in Publishing. She’s a resident of Staten Island, NY and enjoys golf, tennis, adventure travel and has visited eight African countries. She has received numerous awards and honors, including being named "Business Leader of the Year" by the African American Chamber of Commerce of Westchester and Rockland Counties and is recipient of the "Pioneer Award" from the Inner City Youth Golfer’s Association of West Palm Beach, Florida.
