Onyx Ski & Sports Club of Tampa Bay, Inc. was founded on January 30, 1997, as a development club of the National Brotherhood of Skiers (NBS). Joyce Hogue and Ernie Moore are recognized as the club co-founders
Onyx became an official club of The NBS on May 20, 2000. Additionally to better serve our members, Onyx became an official member of the Florida Ski Council on May 31, 2008.
The club’s mission is to introduce minority adults and particularly minority children to winter sports. Onyx hosts an annual golf tournament fundraiser to help fund various winter sports activities for underprivileged and academically accomplished youth of Hillsborough, Pinellas, Polk, Pasco and other bay area counties.
