EAST CANTON, OHIO ā€“In celebration of the 70th Anniversary Year of the birth of Clearview Golf Course, Clearview Legacy Foundation has organized a two-day bus trip to The United States Golf Association Museum in Far Hills, N.J. April 1-2.

Golf house FPresented by Clearview Golf Club and Dr. Renee Powell, LPGA/PGA Head Golf Professional at Clearview Golf Club and one of the first female, honorary members of The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, this overnight trip will provide an extraordinary experience and special journey for golf lovers.

Powell believes that the very special trip will introduce people from the Canton area to the USGA, the home of golf in the U.S., and to allow them to see and understand the connection between the historic Clearview and the USGA. Ā The trip is also a great way to kick-off the April golf season.

With this being the 70th Anniversary of Clearview, Powell seesĀ this celebratory year as the perfectĀ opportunity to better acquaint golfers, and non-golfers, with the many benefits that the USGA brings to the industry and to minority communities.

Of special significance at the USGA, and a grand highlight of the trip, is the fact that there are two, large, beautifully placed banners of William “Bill” PowellĀ displayed on the outside of the Museum. Ā  Inside of the museum, there is a beautiful showcase filled with Clearview memorabilia and artifacts, carefully arranged, to tell the story of the 70-year old golf course from its meager beginnings as a dairy farm, to the historical landmark that it is today.

Renee Powell_300“We will leave Canton (Oh) on Friday and head straight to the Far Hills, NJ area,” said Powell. Ā The ridders will enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in New Jersey. Ā On Saturday morning, following breakfast, the agenda takes the groupĀ over to the USGA Campus for an exciting guided tour of the Museum, a delicious lunch and a specially arranged visitĀ to the USGA Test Center before heading back to Canton.

ā€œOver the past couple of years, the one golf course in the U.S. that the USGA has high-lighted is Clearview,ā€ said Powell. ā€œThere are two large banners of Bill Powell displayed on the building and a display case of archival items from Clearview. The Bus Tour to the governing body of golf seemed to be the perfect kick off to the 70th Anniversary.ā€

A private tour of the USGA Museum will spotlight the newly opened Jack Nicklaus Room, the Arnold Palmer Room, the U.S. Open Trophy Room, the Mickey Wright exhibit and the Clearview Golf Course showcase. Also included in the scheduled activities will be a private tour of the USGA Equipment Test Center, an exclusive interview with Renee Powell and a putting contest, weather permitting.

Cost of the trip is $195 (double occupancy at Hotel Indigo) or $265 (single) and includes travel by motor coach, all museum fees, breakfast and lunch, and historical insights into Revolutionary New Jersey. Registration by Jan. 31 is required, as is the initial payment installment of $100.

ā€œNot only will this be a really fun trip but it will also be very educational about the history of the game so many of us play,ā€ said Powell. ā€œOne will miss out on a very special time if they miss the trip!ā€
