Anita Hanshaw Wyatt, President of A. Hanshaw Event Strategies in Atlanta, Georgia. Anita is a magna cum laude graduate of Clark College in Atlanta, GA, with a B.A. in Mass Communications. Anita experienced a successful corporate career in sales, sales management and marketing for over 26 years working for various companies, ranging from small businesses to major corporations.
While always striving to be a top producer, she won various sales awards and many accolades for her performance throughout her career. She frequently earned incentive trips and prizes for exceeding company goals and for being a strong leader. During that time, she was also raising her daughter, Taryn La’Nita, as a single parent. Anita enjoyed her career and role as a mother, but always had an entrepreneurial spirit and knew that one day she would establish her own business.
Anita learned the game of golf in 2000 while working in corporate America for a Fortune 500 company, where she learned that large deals were being made on the golf course. Throughout her life, Anita has always been a strong athlete. She avidly played tennis, basketball, field hockey, softball and other sports, earning her many outstanding athletic and valuable player awards.
Once Anita learned the game of golf, it became her passion and became an avid golfer, she soon realized that playing golf was not her only interest. She wanted to be part of the game. She learned that golf is a multi-million dollar industry that employs few women and minorities, so she decided to focus on creating her own career in the golf industry. She began attending the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, FL annually to gain knowledge, information, contacts and resources for her business.
In 2003, Anita developed her own marketing company and soon handled marketing and sales for Sweet Spot Apparel, Pro Golf at Camp Creek, The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and many others. Anita is currently the marketing/events coordinator for Michon’s Smoked Meats and Seafood Restaurant in the Atlanta area.
After playing in several charity golf tournaments, Anita decided to utilize her organizational skills, her strong desire to raise funds for great causes, her resources in the golf industry and beyond, her creative spirit and her experiences participating in various tournaments to create her own golf tournament management business.
She has planned, organized, managed and directed charity golf tournaments for organizations such as Morehouse School of Medicine, Atlanta Metropolitan College, Clark Atlanta Athletic Booster Association, Clark Atlanta University Athletic Department, The Living Legends Foundation, Kudos Foundation, Investment Atlanta, Inc., to name a few. She has also promoted and participated in several junior golf programs such as First Tee of Atlanta, Project One Junior Golf Academy, Women in Golf Foundation, etc.
Anita is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and currently attends Cedar Grove United Methodist Church in Conley, GA. She has been the recipient of several awards, including the National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education Distinguished Alumni Award; Most Valuable Professional Award-Oce USA, Inc.; Outstanding Coach Award-Fairfax Police Youth Club; President’s Club Award-Danka Business Systems; The National Association of Professional Women Outstanding Woman of the Year. |
