the first tee logoWe presently have an opportunity for a Senior Manager, Events to join our Communications & Marketing department.  This position is responsible for working with the Vice President, Communications & Marketing in the strategic development and implementation of a portfolio of brand, participant and donor events for The First Tee. This position will contribute to the creation and execution of impactful events that drive strategic business objectives including brand awareness, donor loyalty and exceptional experiences for participants across the United States.
Qualified candidates will have the following:
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, event management, sport management or a related field
  • 7-10 years working or managing events and 3-5 years management experience
  • Demonstrated experience in expanding events’ value to organization(s) and sponsors
  • Preferred experience and/or exposure to golf events
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational skills and attention to detail are required
  • Preferred: Experience with PowerPoint, FluidReview, Salesforce and Photoshop
 
Responsibilities:
  • Developing event proposals, overviews and articulating the business objectives and ROI for current and prospective events
  • Oversees and/or manages The First Tee’s events including PGA TOUR tournament activations, Pure Insurance Championship at Pebble Beach, national participant opportunities and alumni events
  • Develops concepts, themes and formats for events that engage key stakeholders, including sponsors and participants, and increase brand awareness
  • Provides oversight for the planning and execution of participant opportunities
  • Negotiates with venues, consultants and vendors to add value and enhance budgets
  • Manages consultants and vendors prior to and during the event to ensure flawless efficiency
  • Responsible for setting and managing annual event budget
  • Develops and oversees event proposals, planning documentation and ROI/wrap up reports that are shared internally and with sponsors
  • Assists Corporate Partnership business area with the creation of sponsor packages and activations that deliver value to both parties

lpga logoThe Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), headquartered in Daytona Beach, FL, is currently seeking a fulltime, Corporate Counsel.
This position is responsible for a high level of transactional legal work including contract drafting and negotiation, trademarks, copyrights and other intellectual property matters. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of basic contract and corporate business principles, with familiarity of sports marketing/business strategies considered a plus. While this is a junior role, we are looking for an excellent lawyer who is mature, hard-working and has experience in a corporate environment. The Corporate Counsel reports to the Assistant General Counsel. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
• Provide both long-term strategic and day-to-day legal services to a diverse group of business units, with anticipated principal focus on: (i) negotiating and drafting commercial contracts for corporate & tournament functions and select domestic and international business operations, and (ii) providing legal support for the management and continued development of the Organization’s global brands and for the LPGA’s fan-facing activities (advertising, marketing, promotions, public relations and social media).
• Prepare, review, redline and negotiate a variety of domestic and international commercial agreements and other legal documents including trademark, merchandise & software license, sponsorship, supplier, consultant, service provider, SaaS, waivers, membership agreements, event services/management agreements, independent contractor agreements, TV/media agreements, NDAs, and other types of agreements and legal documents
• Work with business units regarding legal issues relating to development of terms for, and negotiation of, agreements with domestic and international parties. Advise business staff on legal issues and risks.
• Provide support in developing corporate policies and procedures for all business units. Provide training, mentoring and education to business units regarding substantive areas of corporate law (intellectual property, attorney-client privilege, insurance, etc.)
• Assist in administration of the LPGA Anti-doping Program.
• Administer Americans with Disabilities Act accommodation requests and assist with review of requests. • Assist Legal Department efforts in the creation, implementation and refinement of forms, policies and procedures. Assist in the implementation of systems and required tools to ensure that contracts are prepared accurately, efficiently and timely.
• Handle general legal matters, as well as participate in special projects, as assigned. o Facilitate the LPGA legal internship program o Assist in litigation management, including legal research, document production and other litigation compliance
Job Requirements:
• J.D. degree from an accredited law school required
• Licensed to practice law in the United States and in good standing (if not licensed in Florida, then ability to qualify for Authorized House Counsel status)
• In-house or corporate/transactional legal experience (exposure to contract negotiation, intellectual property law and/or licensing preferred)
• Experience using centralized databases and information/document management systems.
• Excellent information technology skills, including Microsoft Office suite programs, including SharePoint, OneDrive, Office 365 and electronic signature applications.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects, deadlines and initiatives with minimal oversight. Be extremely organized and efficient with strong follow-through and accountability.
• Ability and desire to understand business operations, issues, and dynamics beyond the scope of basic legal issues. This position is responsible for partnering with the Legal Team and internal business partners to draft, edit and review various contracts and transaction documents to ensure that all contracts comply with internal legal and business policies and procedures. As a critical member of the Legal Team, this selfmotivated Paralegal takes initiative, thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced environment and responds well to deadline pressure and competing workload demands.
This position will report to the Assistant General Counsel and works with and under the supervision of the Legal Department Attorneys Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
• Prepare, review, redline and negotiate contracts and other legal documents under the guidance of a supervising attorney, including trademark & software license, sponsorship, supplier, consultant, service provider, waivers, and membership agreements.
• Assist in the oversight and management of the Organization’s insurance program, including developing budgets, paying invoices, managing claims and policy renewals
• Assist in the development and maintenance of standard contract templates, clause libraries and the Legal Department playbook.
• Assist in the development and implementation of processes, systems and required tools to ensure that contracts are prepared accurately, efficiently and timely.
• Provide support in developing corporate policies, procedures and guidelines for all business units.
• Respond to questions from business units, including providing direction regarding compliance with such policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of document storage and record retention policies as it pertains to each business unit (including the Legal department).
• Serve as the Organization’s Legal Hold administrator. • Periodically audit adherence to litigation hold procedures.
• Develop and implement procedures for locating, preserving and collecting records (including electronic records), in response to discovery requests.
• Partner with IT department regarding data privacy, document retention schedules and litigation holds.
• Draft, review and advise on promotions, contests and sweepstakes rules and related agreements. Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field (preferred)
• Paralegal certification from an ABA approved program
• 5-7 years of corporate transactional experience
• 3+ years of in-house corporate legal experience (preferred)
• Strong commercial background with significant contracting experience across a variety of agreements.
• Experience using centralized databases and information/document management systems. Experience in implementing such database/systems is an asset.
• Excellent information technology skills, including Microsoft Office suite programs, SharePoint, OneDrive, Office 365 Word (track changes) and electronic signature applications.
• Team player, comfortable helping with everything from contract management to litigation and corporate matters with a “no task too big or small” attitude.
• Self-starter with ability to work autonomously while functioning well in a collaborative team environment. • Ability to understand business operations, issues, and dynamics beyond the scope of basic legal issues.
• Ability to direct and manage legal projects while meeting deadlines and reassessing changing priorities
